RSS up in here. . . .a.k.a. #13/14

This was interesting stuff! I love all the acronyms that are created around technology and library business. . .sort of.

The feeds I subscribed to are as follows:
The grouped News Folder which happens to have more news sites than I am interested in.
Free Knitting Patterns from Lion Brand Yarns
Daily Happy Thoughts: (turns out it is way to goofy for me and I need to get rid of it as soon as I figure out how to make that happen.)
Daily Thoughts: (again, not too thrilled. I need something a little more caustic and bitter to make me giggle.)

Any suggestions. I know someone can help me out!!

I see Google Reader as a part of my life, to help me keep up on information. I also can see myself getting way too cluttered with all the new information flushing in on me on a daily basis.

the thing of 12s

We have so many great research tools in our database. In the children's department it is very helpful to guide the children and their parents to the following sites to assist in their homework assignments:
America the Beautiful
Encyclopedia Americana
Lands and People Online
Kentucky Encyclopedia: This one is wonderful for the different age/grade levels who have to study Kentucky History. I enjoy looking through this (and the hardcopy as well) to learn more about the state and to identify information that I might have forgotten that I knew about our UNcommonwealth.

Google is a great resource to use as far as being able to do quick searches, knowing all the while that the results may not be the BEST, but it might suffice. I also like the fact that the kids can put their document on Google Docs and save it should they be without a flashdrive.

11c: Coffee Anyone?

Well, although I love the fact that you gave us a great clue for the information requested to start your own coffee shop, I found it a bit cumbersome. In two separate attempts to do this I got two separate results. Yesterday, when I highlighted the paragraph as suggested, it took me to a research tool that found all the places in Southern Indiana as well as Louisville, to include Thornton's, Dunkin' Donuts, and any other little haven that might sell you a cup o' Joe. Every attempt I made to downsize the search didn't happen.

Today when I made the first attempt, I highlighted and right clicked. Bing gave me a different result, not giving a shout out to our folks across the River. However, it did still show me over 85 names/addresses/locations where you could get a cup of coffee, from the locally owned to the national chains. So I guess I would just suggest you skip the coffee shop and start selling creamers and swizzle sticks to all these shops!

Thank God for adult reference!!! I'm going to go practice a rendition of "Five Little Ducks."

LCD TV, WHO WANTS IT??

I didn't think you would need to read the whole article, or any of it actually, but here are the highlights!

LCD & plasma TVs. (cover story). (2008). Consumer Reports, 73.

Enjoy!! And get that LCD TV!!!

And you thought I had died!!

I shall beat this thing called 23 Things. . . . maybe.

10c) Telos could not be found. However, BJftHoP (don't you love acronyms? Yea, me neither.) and Clinical Meds and Research could be found in full text format in Ebsco's Academic Search Premier. I used the Journal/Magazine/Newspaper search and of course, looked for each one individually.

11a) Vanguard Target Retirement 2020Name of manager: Duane F. Kelly
Stewardship Grade: Corporate Culture - A; Board Quality - B; Manager Incentives - D; Fees - D; Regulatory Issues - A.
Morningstar Rating: B (4-star--above average)
I searched for 'Vanguard Target' and chose the correct string from the menu of suggestions.  I made sure to choose '2020', as I noticed other 'Vanguard Target Retirement' options.

And now, on to more searching. Stay tuned for more enticing info from our FANTASTICAL database!!!!!
